Diane Abbott has been the MP for Hackney since 1987. She is 71 years old.
She is one of five MPs we have written to for this week’s episode to ask about their personal Covid 19 vaccination uptake last autumn. All those aged over 65 were being advised to take a jab in the campaign that began in October.
She was one of a number of black MPs who participated in January 2021 in a video to try to increase the uptake amongst those demographics.
She was more than happy to tweet about the medical procedure in question in January 2021:

A supporter of zero covid strategies and harsh lockdowns, Ms Abbott should have been lining up for a jab last autumn. This is the letter we sent her on December 31st:
The other four MPs who received the same letter during the research for this episode were Marie Rimmer (Lab, St Helens South and Whiston), Patricia Ferguson (Lab, Glasgow West) Gregory Campbell (DUP, Londonderry) and Paul Kohler (LD, Wimbledon).
As the video above makes plain these MPs were by and large happy to support the mass vaccination strategy publicly. Our questions do not therefore feel as intrusive as they perhaps might under different circumstances.
As in the previous five weeks none of these MPs wants to say they are still using these products, which are now being offered to everyone over 75 as part of the Spring Covid vaccination campaign.
Join us again next week for the next five MPs on our list and please do share and subscribe if you feel able.
